Feel the sense of
confidence that comes from a stronger body.
Contrary to traditional weight building exercises,
in yoga your body provides the resistance. The
balancing postures require enormous muscle control
to prevent falling over. This helps build up and
strengthen the muscles.
Your breath is one
of the best remedies there is....and it’s free!
Slowing the breath releases the carbon dioxide
levels in the blood, changing the PH level to a
more alkalined balanced state. The parasympathetic
nervous system then calms us in a variety of ways,
helping to lower the heart rate. Ahhhh.....
Flexibility is the
proper and full range of motion within the joints
of the body. This is brought about by the
coordination of muscle tension and muscle
relaxation via the nervous system. Stretching
slowly protects muscle fibers and their tendons
from strain while resistance set up by holding the
posture increases muscle strength. Improved muscle
strength and stretch provides stability,
flexibility and protection to the joints.
Through meditation
and breath-work, we can calm the fluctuations of
the mind. Meditation is the art of focusing your
mind, restraining your thoughts and looking within.
Research has shown that meditation can contribute
to an individual’s psychological and physiological
well-being. Some of the benefits include decreased
anxiety and depression, greater creativity,
increased feelings of vitality and rejuvenation,
and increased happiness.
Yoga can
help reduce pain. Tense muscles often contribute to
pain and discomfort. Relaxing muscles helps to
minimize muscle tension and the pain that is
associated with it. Also, breathing deeply into
muscles helps lessen pain by altering your
perception of it.
Through different
postures of yoga we can easily reduce extra fat
from our body. By stimulating sluggish glands, we
increase their hormonal secretions. Certain
postures increase fat metabolism thereby converting
fat to muscle and energy. Yoga deep breathing helps
in increasing the oxygen intake to the body cells,
including the fat cells. This results in the
burning of fat cells.
By adjusting your
personal eating, sleeping and exercise habits, you
can boost your energy the natural way. Certain
postures, breath and meditation techniques learned
here at the studio can be easily incorporated into
your daily lifestyle…yoga off the mat!
