Ashtanga/Vinyasa Yoga

Ready to heat it up?
For students who would really enjoy a more “active” style of yoga, this class is certainly that! Ashtanga is sometimes referred to as “power yoga” because the foundation of this style is based upon the dynamic flow of Surya Namaskara A & B,  the Sun Salutations.  Vinyasa is the unique linking of one asana (posture) to the next in a serpentine flow.  This vigorous  sequencing  connects the mind and body to the rhythm of the breath, heating the blood, cleaning and thinning it so that it may circulate more freely.  Improved blood circulation relieves joint pain and removes toxins and disease from the internal organs. The sweat generated from the heat of Ashtanga/Vinyasa then carries the impurities out of the body.

Gentle Yoga

A great stretch for those who may be new to yoga, pregnant, postnatal or for those seeking something gentle on the body as well as seeking a calming of the mind.

Hatha Flow

A beautiful Hatha Yoga class flowing the body from one posture (asana) to the next, linking both the breath with the body.  This class will increase your energy, calm your mind, strengthen your body and will leave you feeling stronger, longer, open and ready to take on whatever lies ahead of you in your day! Hatha Flow promotes whole body awareness.  Blissful!

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is most commonly practised for mental and physical health. It is the branch of yoga which concentrates on physical health and mental well-being.  Hatha yoga uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind.

Kripalu Hatha

This practice stimulates self-knowledge and compassion in both body and mind. The learning starts with alignment, energy and breath; the class proceeds along physical pathways that will extend and strengthen your muscles, free up your joints, stimulate and tone body systems, and deeply relax the whole you.  The result? A personalized practice that addresses your needs in the here-and-now.

Kundalini Yoga

The Kundalini is untapped energy (prana) at the base of the spine that can be drawn up through the body awakening each of the seven chakras.  Kundalini energy is often represented as a snake coiled at the base of the spine.  Each Kundalini Yoga asana series is done in conjunction with a specific breath that intensifies the effects of the poses with the purpose of freeing energy in the lower body and allowing it to move upwards. Kundalini sequences (called kriyas) may consist of rapid, repetitive movements done with breath or holding a pose while breathing in a particular way.

Vinyasa Flow

Not quite as vigorous as Ashtanga/Vinyasa, yet a little more movement than the Hatha Flow. A great balance. A great class!

Yang/Flow/Yin Yoga

Combining the strength building and detoxification aspects of a Yang (energetic) flow yoga practice with the deep tissue stretching Yin (cooling) practice; complimentary styles of yoga brought together in one energizing yet restorative class. Suitable for all levels of experience.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga, a quiet, meditative yoga practice in which postures are held for longer periods; up to 5 minutes. These longer holds encourage the connective tissues around the joints, particularly the hips and lower back, to release and rehydrate. This contributes to healthier joints and a more balanced physical and mental body. You may find this practice a wonderful compliment to more active yoga classes and our busy, active “yang” lives.
This class is better suited to a practicing Yogi rather than someone brand new to Yoga.
