Class
Description
Ready to heat it up?
For students who would really enjoy a more “active” style of yoga, this class is certainly that! Ashtanga is sometimes referred to as “power yoga” because the foundation of this style is based upon the dynamic flow of Surya Namaskara A & B, the Sun Salutations. Vinyasa is the unique linking of one asana (posture) to the next in a serpentine flow. This vigorous sequencing connects the mind and body to the rhythm of the breath, heating the blood, cleaning and thinning it so that it may circulate more freely. Improved blood circulation relieves joint pain and removes toxins and disease from the internal organs. The sweat generated from the heat of Ashtanga/Vinyasa then carries the impurities out of the body.
A beautiful Hatha Yoga class flowing the body from one posture (asana) to the next, linking both the breath with the body. This class will increase your energy, calm your mind, strengthen your body and will leave you feeling stronger, longer, open and ready to take on whatever lies ahead of you in your day! Hatha Flow promotes whole body awareness. Blissful!
A great stretch for those who may be new to yoga, pregnant, postnatal or for those seeking something gentle on the body as well as seeking a calming of the mind.
Not quite as vigorous as Ashtanga/Vinyasa, yet a little more movement than the Hatha Flow. A great balance. A great class!
The Kundalini is untapped energy (prana) at the base of the spine that can be drawn up through the body awakening each of the seven chakras. Kundalini energy is often represented as a snake coiled at the base of the spine. Each Kundalini Yoga asana series is done in conjunction with a specific breath that intensifies the effects of the poses with the purpose of freeing energy in the lower body and allowing it to move upwards. Kundalini sequences (called kriyas) may consist of rapid, repetitive movements done with breath or holding a pose while breathing in a particular way.
This practice stimulates self-knowledge and compassion in both body and mind. The learning starts with alignment, energy and breath; the class proceeds along physical pathways that will extend and strengthen your muscles, free up your joints, stimulate and tone body systems, and deeply relax the whole you. The result? A personalized practice that addresses your needs in the here-and-now.
